Assembling a Google Carboard Dodocase Viewer -Easy

Ok, I am going to show you how easy it is to use a google cardboard viewer.

This is a “dodocase” I got in a gift bag at the Silicon Valley Virtual Reality . I want to assemble it for you to show you how easy it is. You can get a google cardboard VR viewer easily from many places on the Internet. Dodocase makes nice ones and has branding opportunities for printing or custom cases.

So that was fast. Now here is my cell phone, an iphone 6 that has been updated with the 9.2 operating system.

I am extremely passionate about virtual reality, but I wanted to post a video for people who are new to it.

I've opened it up to Jaunt VR and their latest title "Machu Picchu". In order to see it in the viewer you want it set to stereoscopic content. If you do not have a viewer, you can watch it in 2D in a panoramic way on you phone by turning the phone with your hands or using your finger on the content. Machu Picchu is beautiful imagery with illuminated graphics and special effects. I am going to put it in stereoscope now and put it in the smartphone tray on my dodocase google cardboard viewer. You can use other phones with cardboard viewers.

Now I can view in 360 degrees. When using google cardboard you can not interact per se with a virtual world, there is no hand controllers, you can not lean in or move forward. It is not totally immersive like some of the headsets out now. There are signifiers though, like hyperlinks in websites, that when you look at them they light up and link through to other screens. JauntVR has an interface on this title that is activated when you stare at a plus sign. You go through to a screen that can stop and start the video or return to the home screen to pick another video.

Thing that lend themselves to virtual reality are virtual tourism, home movies, advertising, real estate and it is also really great for concerts or events to get an upgraded ticket view. It is also good for story telling. It is also really popular for non profits to do fundraising showing the conditions of the location or the subjects of their cause.
